Your SDQ-to-ship plan: identify Sans Souci or Don Diego before booking
The terminal, passenger entrance and boarding cutoff matter more than a generic Santo Domingo port pin.

Short answer
Check the cruise documents for the terminal assigned to your ship: Sans Souci and Don Diego are different locations. Give SDQ RIDE the ship, sailing date, passenger entrance and boarding cutoff. Plan both airport formalities and the road journey before that cutoff; the sailing time is not the latest time to arrive.
Put the sailing's actual terminal on the request
Use the cruise line's latest instructions to identify the terminal and passenger entrance. A first map result for Santo Domingo port may be the wrong facility. Forward the line's location link where possible, and update dispatch if the terminal changes even when the ship and sailing time do not.
Copy the vessel and operator names exactly. A ferry may use different arrangements from a cruise ship, and the point where a private car is admitted may not be the passenger check-in area. Confirm the permitted drop-off; transport to the port does not promise vehicle access to the gangway.

Build the arrival around boarding closure
Send the latest boarding time printed in your documents, not just the ship's departure. Before allocating road time, allow for entering the country, collecting bags and meeting the driver at SDQ. A flight's scheduled landing does not establish when the whole party will be outside with its luggage.
If flying on sailing day, consider what a late flight would mean before purchasing the itinerary. An earlier flight or hotel night beforehand can give more flexibility. A private road transfer does not protect a cruise connection, make the ship wait or guarantee recovery after missed boarding.
Make a separate plan for leaving the ship
Ask the line about your disembarkation group, baggage collection and the outside meeting location. The time the ship docks is not a guaranteed release time. Provide a working phone contact and tell dispatch when everyone is actually ready rather than asking a driver to infer progress from the ship's arrival.
For the airport return, supply the flight number and the airline's required arrival allowance. Report delayed port formalities promptly. A lunch stop or excursion changes the itinerary; request its timing and price in advance instead of adding it to the essential airport run at the pier.

Can I book simply to Santo Domingo cruise port?
Identify the assigned terminal first. Sans Souci and Don Diego require different locations, and permitted vehicle access must be confirmed for your sailing.
