Short answer

SDQ is Las Américas for Santo Domingo, PUJ is Punta Cana and LRM is La Romana. Start with the actual hotel or port address and compare usable flights plus both ground journeys. An inexpensive SDQ ticket may require an expensive east-coast drive, while the geographically nearest airport may lack a suitable schedule. Check JBQ carefully: it is another Santo Domingo airport, not SDQ.

Let the accommodation address define the comparison

Use the hotel's map pin rather than a broad marketing region. Compare SDQ for a Santo Domingo stay, PUJ for the Punta Cana area and LRM for La Romana against the actual roads to that property. Flight availability and arrival hour may matter as much as distance; a resort marketed as Punta Cana still has its own local approach.

Read the three-letter code on every ticket segment. La Isabela/Joaquín Balaguer is JBQ, a separate airport also associated with Santo Domingo. Giving dispatch only the city name risks reserving the wrong starting point even if your accommodation details are correct.

Add the party's complete costs in both directions

Include airfare, checked bags, an accepted vehicle quote and any extra overnight stay. Compare equivalent services: a per-seat shared fare is not the same product as a private vehicle for the party. Calculate the departure journey too; savings on arrival can disappear when returning from a different airport.

Check child seats and golf or other bulky luggage in the quote, not just passenger seats. For seven or more people, obtain the actual van arrangement and capacity confirmation. Multiplying a small-car fare or counting seats alone does not establish that the group and bags fit.

Treat different airport codes as a road connection

Landing at SDQ and leaving from PUJ or LRM means entering the country, collecting bags, driving and checking in again. Compare those stages with the second airline's deadline, not simply the gap between the two flight times. This is not a transfer within one terminal.

Ask both airlines about disruption protection, especially with separately purchased tickets. Dispatch can organize the road section but cannot protect an onward flight. If the margin works only with the fastest possible processing and drive, revise the itinerary instead of relying on optimism.

Frequently asked questions

Is the lowest airfare automatically the cheapest arrival?

No. Compare baggage, the vehicle needed for your party, both transfer directions and any extra hotel night. Use the actual hotel address, not only the destination region.
