Paying your SDQ driver clearly: the fare first, a tip if you choose
A gratuity should be a personal decision after the agreed service, not a surprise part of the transport bill.

Short answer
There is no compulsory tip or required tipping percentage in this guide. Pay the fare confirmed for your SDQ RIDE journey, then decide whether you want to add a gratuity. Make clear which amount settles the ride and which is voluntary, particularly when a group pays together or change is needed.
Use the confirmation to settle the transport bill
Check the destination, vehicle arrangement and total in the booking message. Published zone fares already account for the taxes and tolls stated with them. If an extra stop or another change produces a disputed charge, ask dispatch to explain it against the itinerary; calling something a tip does not make an unexplained compulsory charge acceptable.
For a shared group payment, nominate one passenger to settle the total. If everyone hands over cash separately, it becomes difficult to tell whether money is still owed or someone intended an extra thank-you. Confirm the settled fare before discussing any additional amount.
Choose a thank-you that fits your experience and budget
A percentage found online is not a rule for your journey. You can decide according to your budget and the assistance you received, give thanks directly or leave a truthful account of the trip in a review. No single amount is appropriate for every traveller and every route.
The service already agreed should not depend on an extra payment. A missing confirmed child seat, an incorrect destination or another unresolved booking detail needs a conversation with dispatch. Resolve the service issue directly rather than using a gratuity to negotiate delivery of something already booked.
Agree currency and change before handing over cash
The stated fare currencies are US dollars and Dominican pesos. If the price was quoted in USD and you will use DOP, establish the peso total or conversion basis before travelling. For a voluntary tip in another currency, ask whether it is usable and accepted rather than assuming it can readily be exchanged.
Tell the driver whether the cash is fare only or includes a tip, and ask about change before presenting a large note. A return ride has its own payment and may use another driver. A tip paid on arrival neither pays nor changes the fare for the departure journey.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need to add a fixed percentage to the fare?
No. This guide sets no compulsory percentage. A voluntary gratuity is separate from the confirmed fare, taxes, tolls and any agreed itinerary extras.
