Two Santo Domingo airport codes, two different pickups: SDQ and JBQ
Read the three-letter arrival code before comparing hotel locations, fares or an airport-to-airport connection.

Short answer
SDQ is Las Américas José Francisco Peña Gómez at Punta Caucedo, east of Santo Domingo. JBQ is La Isabela/Doctor Joaquín Balaguer, also called El Higüero. They are separate airports. Send the arriving flight and airport code together; the words Santo Domingo airport do not identify a pickup or justify applying an SDQ fare to JBQ.
Find the code in the detailed flight itinerary
Open the arriving segment rather than relying on a calendar city label. Booking sites can emphasize Santo Domingo and put the airport in smaller print. Send code and flight number together so dispatch can match the actual aircraft arrival to the pickup.
For connections, distinguish where you first enter the country from where the road transfer begins. If somebody else bought the flight, request the complete final-arrival details instead of a message saying only which city you reach.
Check fares and overnight hotels against that airport
SDQ RIDE's published SDQ zone table starts at Las Américas. It is not automatically a tariff for La Isabela. For JBQ, give the real airport and destination and obtain a specific confirmation rather than reusing the SDQ amount.
Likewise ask which airport an airport-hotel listing actually serves. A property near one Santo Domingo airport may be poorly placed for a flight at the other. A low room price is of little use if it creates an unsuitable early-morning route.
Treat a change of airports as its own connection
Establish baggage collection, onward check-in cutoff and who bears the connection risk. Time on the road is only one component. Provide both flight bookings to assess the actual itinerary rather than comparing the gap between flight times alone.
Ask the airlines about a late first arrival and request a quote for the exact airport pair. A city-center hotel rate is not a substitute. Keep contingency plans explicit: hiring a car cannot guarantee admission after an airline deadline.
Frequently asked questions
Are SDQ and La Isabela the same airport?
No. La Isabela uses JBQ; Las Américas uses SDQ. Verify the code on the arriving flight and send it with the flight number when booking.
