Weather changes on your SDQ trip: check the flight, road and booking separately

A seasonal forecast cannot decide an individual pickup. Use current warnings and get an accepted revised plan when conditions change.

Short answer

Atlantic hurricane season is June 1–November 30, but the calendar does not establish whether your route can operate and storms can occur outside it. Check official warnings, airline and airport updates, then ask dispatch about your actual road and destination. If travel changes, obtain separate responses from the airline, accommodation and transfer provider.

Ask the right source about each part of the journey

Use National Hurricane Center tropical-system information and Dominican authorities' local instructions rather than treating monthly rainfall averages as a road forecast. Airline and airport notices establish a different point: the current status of your flight. Neither source alone confirms every part of the ground journey.

Send dispatch a changed flight number or date and ask whether the pickup and destination remain accessible. A flight operating to schedule does not mean every connecting road or hotel entrance is unaffected. Keep those checks tied to your actual travel day and address.

Reassess the plan instead of adding an arbitrary buffer

Rain can affect visibility, loading and the final streets around the property. Ask dispatch to reconsider departure timing when conditions worsen. A fixed extra fifteen minutes cannot account for a closure, flooding or a major diversion, so do not present it as a universal solution.

Keep medication, documents and charging equipment with you. If travel is unsafe, follow official instructions and coordinate another plan with the operator and accommodation. A deadline does not justify pressing a driver to enter standing water or bypass a closure.

Keep each provider's cancellation decision in writing

Tell dispatch directly when postponing or cancelling. Read transfer terms alongside the separate airline, hotel and insurance conditions. A weather waiver offered by one provider does not automatically amend another contract, even when the disruption has the same cause.

Keep the revised itinerary and replies together. If a replacement flight leaves from another airport, request the new route and quote; an SDQ booking does not automatically cover it. Do not rely on a replacement pickup that nobody has accepted for a time-critical connection.

Frequently asked questions

Does hurricane season mean my transfer is cancelled?

No. The actual weather, official instructions and route conditions matter. Check the flight and contact dispatch about the road; confirm changes under each provider's terms.
